BLINDAID Community project

BlindAid is a charity that delivers emotional and practical support to blind and visually impaired people living in the twelve inner London Boroughs and the City of London. They strive to improve quality of life, promote independence and amongst other key support, provide free classes in art & design, IT, cookery and excercise.

As part of BlindAid’s community project, I create and deliver a weekly art & design class to groups of blind and visually impaired people, in which I aim to provide a positive creative environment for participants to learn new skills, be expressive and imaginative, build confidence and feel part of a supportive community.

From paper craft and collage to ceramics, painting, printmaking and weaving, the classes focus on exploring different materials and techniques, as well as drawing inspiration from both contemporary and historical artists and designers. Classes are designed to be adaptable and accessible to people with different abilities and interests and give participants the opportunity to receive one-to-one creative guidance within a friendly, group setting.
